Listener Reviews
Fun and captivating
This podcast has diverse subjects and presents it in a captivating way. Always makes you think.
This Podcast rocks!
This is the single best podcast I have ever listened to, combining fun, casual conversations either very serious topics like ai or more unimportant ones like “what is the best free restaurant bread in an America?” PJ we love you!
Hugging Face Incident Episode
This show and episode in particular is so important, especially considering the place where legacy media is today. Back to listen again in an effort to try and better understand it. Thanks!
PJ Is A National Treasure
I have this recurring dream where Icelandic terrorists kidnap PJ Vogt and hide him in the secret stronghold they have carved into a remote glacier, feeding him only puffins and skyr while forcing him to podcast their demands for expanded whaling rights (for science!) and sainthood for Bjork. Nicolas Cage, a big fan dating all the way back through Reply All to the days of TLDR, reaches out to Alex Goldman. Together they dodge harpoons, solve hidden clues, and race against time to rescue PJ before he drowns in glacial melt. I always wake up before the epic finale, but I just know it will end in success, with Alex and PJ walking away, laughing and trading insults while behind them the hidden lair explodes in clouds of ice and snow (Nick didn’t make it).
hands down, my all-time favorite podcast
this podcast gives me faith in humanity in a way i can’t fully explain. there is so much thought, kindness, consideration, effort put towards the big and little things that make life really quirky and interesting and meaningful; and that is in such short supply nowadays. thank you PJ for having put this/your work out into the world; it’s my digital happy place and i came to apple podcasts just to write this (i normally use a different platform, that’s how much i love this show).
Xi’an Famous Foods Episode
Possibly my favorite podcast episode ever. What a wonders and inspiring story. Now for the noodles! Thanks!
Best Pod Ever
Since the way back I’ve followed and listened to PJ. Topics pulled from the ether of collective consciousness, always infusing humor, appreciating irony, consistently offering new/different/alternative ways to consider this crazy life. I love it!!
Finally a comeback
Updated June 2025, dude the episode of pj finding out why the online writer gal wasn’t fitting in socially was absolutely riveting he’s so good at seeing the nuances and explaining his takeaways from interviews in very objective ways I just loved that episode I love when pj interviews subjects it’s sooooo fascinating I can’t explain it 10/10 ugh so good of an episode We all came looking for him and his eventual and now present comeback, and once again he’s nailed his ability to produce an incredibly fascinating podcast
So fun!
My husband and I love this podcast. We appreciate that the hose take seriously the minutia of life that is so often on all of our minds. It’s funny, it’s interesting, and the host is a genuinely likable person.
I never write reviews but
I feel compelled because I just listened to the “why is no one coming to my parties” episode and it’s a genuine masterpiece.
Thought provoking, stimulating and educational
Thank you for producing well researched and interesting stories that shed light on the mind and humanity. Your podcast has an amazing balance of journalism and philosophy and runs deep. It has taught me a lot about life and is an amazing companion for long walks or rides. You make the world a smarter place.
I love you PJ Vogt
I have had the biggest crush on PJ Vogt for years and years now. I have so many favorite episodes, and feel like I’m solving mysteries right beside the love of my life every time I listen to a new episode. Maybe because im ADHD too, but the way he talks I just follow right along with his storytelling SO well (always). I’m not even kidding- I love you PJ!!! SLAY QUEEN!
Excellent
I’m constantly recommending this show to friends. There are hundreds of good things I could say about it, but I’ll just tell you this: PJ has a way with metaphors. I don’t often think about metaphors but PJ’s are so unique, colorful and descriptive that it gives me a new appreciation for the form.
Thought provoking!
The world isn’t black and white. It’s complex, nuanced, and full of interesting issues. Search Engine will tickle your brain to think deeper. It will challenge your assumptions. It will make you ponder while you’re driving. This podcast is for anyone that enjoys thought provoking context.
Literally My Favorite Podcast
This is such a great show. The topics are always interesting and creative. PJ does a fantastic job with asking the guests insightful and deep questions, and the team edits the show together in a very clean, compelling manner. Always a treat to spend time listening to this one.
Very good.
Very well done podcast. It's informative and interesting. I like that he covers such a broad array of topics.
Trusted source to our societal ambiguity
Somehow, PJ Vogt and his team is so consistently able to deliver a very broad set of relevant topics without a sense of hidden agenda. As trust is not measurable, maybe this is a good alternate definition of trust while he challenges us on important topics.
One of the greats
I normally listen to podcasts on another app, but I love this show so much redownloaded Apple Podcasts so I could write this review. PJ has talked about how he listened to the full “This American Life” on burned CDs. I listened to it on 2007 iPod. He’s now making shows I’m sure aimless 20 somethings will treat with the same reverence in the future. If I recommended three podcasts to someone who was just getting into podcasts, it’d be TAL, 99PI, and this.
Why aren’t you listening yet?
PJ and team have a special way of getting you to be interested in whatever they are doing a piece on. Great storytelling about whatever topic they do a deep dive on. From why office buildings can’t be converted to apartments, GLP-1s, and Self driving cars! You’ll never be bored and you’ll always have something fun to talk about the next time you are out for drinks with friends!
A nice review
This is on my short list of podcasts that I always listen to new episodes ASAP. Always interesting, always thoughtful and well done
Great show, and so glad to have PJ back
God I love Caity Weaver. You should have her on every episode.
