Great insightful interview by PJ with Oliver Letwin, writer of China vs America. Enlightening description of fundamental differences between the two countries and how these differences impact the quality of life and advancement of public infrastructure.

I like the show! Well made, good stories.

I was a replyAll listener and recently found out PJ created Search Engine. PJ and his team found a way to create a new formula that keeps you engaged. He dives deeper into topics that he finds interesting or compelling while putting his two cents. It’s more personal yet still has a bit for everyone. Been binging episodes and am almost caught up. 10/10 would recommend and I recommend to all my friends. Keep up the great work y’all 🤘(Side note: I don’t even use Apple Podcasts, I use Spotify but wanted to give y’all your flowers)

Search engine is a very enjoyable and bingeable show. It spans all kinds of topics and questions, and the team finds ways to keep it interesting. I find myself going back for a re-listen on some of the more concrete questions (that episode on inflation from 2024 was really insightful). Even with the more existential questions, the host makes sure the listener ends the ep with some degree of closure.

He’s young enough to still be hip, and old enough to be authoritative. Every episode seems like it should have taken MONTHS to produce. And they just keep comin’. Listen to all the episodes for free, then get incognito. You’ll want to.

I leap to turn down the volume when he goes on an extended paroxysm, but it's not always possible. Humor is always welcome, but a little subtlety would make the lighter moments less painful.

Search Engine’s solid. PJ asks weird questions and makes them stick with you. Not every episode hits but most do, and even the misses are interesting. It feels human, curious, sometimes messy, which is why it works

Ever since I heard PJ as a recommendation from freakonomics, I’ve been hooked. From the goofy to the serious, I always learn something new and am glad to have spent that time. They do a great job taking a random topic like cat people into a full story and adding color in all the right places! Also, update, but I think the key is he’s just a great interviewer. He can pull the most interesting stories out of people in a way that you really learn something about that person and the subject matter. Perfection!

I love your podcast but the chewing sounds in the last episode made me want to commit murder. Never do that again.

Been a fan since the old days. PJ, it’s been very cool to “grow up” with you (I say, being essentially the same age as you) and see your skills as a storyteller and your thoughtfulness & maturity as a human develop. (I know there’s something about a parasocial relationship in that statement, but at least I’m self-aware enough to recognize it). Keep up the good work - you and the entire crew.
