Best find of 2024!

New discovery
I learned about Search Engine from TTFA, one of my favorite podcasts. I ended up listening to 5 episodes of Search Engine. Great content, great writing and interesting and engaging. I was captivated and instantly hooked. Amazing work on all episodes but particularly Fentanyl episodes. Such diverse and interesting sources of information and highly relevant topic.

Different but just as good
It’s hard to follow up a show like Reply All but you did it. I look forward to every Friday’s episode :)

Fantastic, curious show
This show is carried by PJ’s curiosity and ability to bounce ideas with interviewees and get insights out of those exchanges. I loved Reply All and was sad to see it end (both the PJ/Alex era and what followed). IMO, this show has the best of that - exploring interesting things about the world with people who actually have insightful stuff to say.

Vulture made me do it!
I found this podcast on vultures list of best podcasts of 2023. I was a huge fan of reply all in the past and so I was excited to hear this new project by PJ. i’m only two episodes in and I’ve already obsessed and sharing it with my friends. I love the way that he tells stories and the playfulness of the interviews.

Excellent
Love this show, love PJ and his reporting style. Always thoughtful, thought provoking and accessible storytelling. I’ll always miss Reply All but I’m glad that we’re getting an excellent show from some of the original RA peeps.

Love how PJ tells stories
I love how PJ (with Truthi) tells stories. The self deprecating nature of PJ's jokes are great, it's one of the few pods where I get deep belly laughs (usually when PJ does), and the pod's guests are world class.

PJ is back
I never understood the Reply All drama, even after trying to and listening to their own episode about it. Anyway, great to see this new show up and running. It’s not quite Reply All level *yet* but there’s good work and great potential here. Keep up the excellent work.

Quality, Engaging, Entertaining Journalism
So glad to see PJ (and Sruthi!) end up somewhere after Gimlet, please keep it up! This show is exactly what it says on the label, with high quality interviews, sound clips, mixing, a mix of narration and dialogue, and all kinds of wacky little rabbit holes that start with a simple question.

New favorite binge
This is such a interesting and smart podcast. It’s my favorite to pop on and listen to while running errands or cleaning the house. I love that I feel like I am learning a thing or two while listening. If your thinking about trying it out, don’t think just do.

Entertaining and well-done
Well-researched and written, it’s a balm for all of the crappy, cheap podcasts out there (looking at you ex-reality stars talking about nothing/ tv actors recapping your 15 year old show) Search Engine is smart, funny and a must listen for old reply all fans.

Fun, evidence based, sometimes educational
I love the premise, and the production values have staying power. Hosts genuinely seek to teach and learn at the same time. Most techno music quickly becomes cloying or annoying to me, and that hasn’t happened here, probably because it doesn’t get in the way.
The sushi episodes were a great finish to the first half season. Well done!

I Absolutely LOVE This Podcast!
I’ve always thought that PJ and Sruthi make some of the most compelling stories in podcasting and Search Engine is no exception. This pod is tons of fun and PJ has the perfect voice for podcasting. I listen to about 6 hours of podcasts per day and this has quickly become one of my favorite shows. Give it a listen, I think you’ll like it.
