Listener Reviews

Great show!
I was a huge fan of Reply All, and so sad when it went off the air. i’m so happy to see PJ back and telling stories. Give this show a listen; you really won’t regret it. The storytelling is superb and the topics are very interesting.
I’m always looking forward to the next episode.
Search Engine is a standout podcast that has a unique way of drawing listeners into unexpectedly fascinating topics. Vogt’s skill in making the obscure engaging is impressive, and his ability to maintain my interest in subjects I wouldn’t think to explore is a testament to his talent as a host. The production of the podcast is both comfortable and exciting, striking a balance that enhances the listening experience. The format is one of its strongest points, seamlessly blending in-depth investigations, engaging guests, and intriguing takes on weekly news topics into a cohesive and thought-provoking package.
Very interesting and informative
I really enjoy each episode. Thanks for making great podcasts.
The podcast I look forward to every week
You can’t pin this podcast down in terms of topic or theme but you can expect a deep dive of research with whatever they’re covering.
A Gem
This is one of those podcasts (like Ologies) where even if you don’t find the subject matter particularly interesting at face value PJ will pull you in and make it an entertaining, engaging, and informative little journey. Really great work by him and the rest of the team of people that put these together.
PJ Vogt is *chef’s kiss*
I’d listen to anything he makes. In fact, I have. But this one is my favorite. He’s self deprecating and cannot stop looking for answers until he gets to the bottom of whatever is itching at him. If you liked the investigative stories and playful banter with guests on Reply All, he is everything that was good about it.
Simply excellent
This show scratches the itch that is intellectual curiosity. The producer Garrott is exceptionally talented. Excited to hear more from him!
So good tho
PJ and Sruthi make a great team! So glad they are back and podding better’n ever!
PJ is back!
Love this podcast. PJ is very good at this!
My favorite podcast
This is the pod I’m most excited to listen to.
Thoughtful and funny!
Every show dives deep into a topic I didn’t even know I cared about, with humor and in engaging style. Always a great listen!
PJ is back and better than ever
While missing his collaboration with Alex, which I’ve enjoyed since the TLDR days, this new show is PJ at his best. Stop reading and catch up on the entire backlog now.
So happy PJ is back in my ears!!
I’m here because of Reply All. RA was my favorite podcast. But it’s been usurped by Search Engine. This is such a fantastic podcast. I’m telling all of my friends about it.
Fantastic Show
I’m so glad I found this show. It’s well put together, compelling subjects, funny but not trite. Quality entertainment right here.
My favorite podcast by far
I regularly listen to about 20 podcast and Search Engine is far and away the best of the best.
Equal parts captivating and rigorous
PJ brings the type of journalism that is equal parts captivating and rigorous. I love his honest self reflection and inquiry, it is what sets the show apart from other podcasts. You will grow to love (or hate?) the way he sees the world. In the end, I don’t think that matters which side you land on. I wish more journalists presented themselves and their curiosity about the world in the way that search engine does.
No words are excellent enough
It delves into the human perspective on subjects big and small that is honest, objective, kind and impactful. The ads arent so brash as to destroy the ambience of the wonderful world that you walk into through the looking glass of his honest journalism. Keeps an in depth an open minded approach to every subject. Plus…. Who hasnt missed PJ from long ago in his previous podcast. It feels like this american life, 99 percent invisible or invisibilia where the daily subjects are brought to light in a new way.
Love!
Fills the podcast void that I was missing from Reply All!
Best podcast!
Such informative questions and answers
Love PJ
PJs podcasting fills a niche that no other show does.
Great to have PJ back
Love PJ’s style. Witty and informative. Podcast is well researched and careful to not draw sweeping conclusions like many podcasts do.
Podcasts at its best
“Is there a sane way to use the internet” is one of the best conversations about todays media I ever heard. Deeply moving and motivating to change the way I use the web.
Is recycling a sham?
PJ is the best: Love you, the show, life.My question is: Is recycling a sham? I go to my local recycling center and there’s always the guy fishing out the black plastic containers. Are the yellow ones ok? I can’t get out of the supermarket without salad in plastic containers, chicken tenders in plastic containers, plastic containers in plastic containers. Where does this go after I dump it into my local spot? That place in China? The numbers on the bottom: nobody knows what they mean! Keep going- anything you talk about is my favorite thing of the week
Why II take speed
Slightly Misleading title that is far more useful balanced and informative as a mini documentary documentary on a very important topic of ADHD- adhd- history of med studies, big wwII use, big pharma heavy handedness,- informative perspectives on personal question: to speed or not ti speed Personally : I chose an intermittent use of a mild med : Guanfacine. Works fast, does not stay in body overnight,, use it prophylactically in anticipation of stressful day, or when trusted partner feedback advises it might be helpful for relationship issues. Also find mindfulness meditation app 10% happier great intro with Dali Lama interview is recommended my partner and I do this morning night and as needed on restless nights - repeating the same one for 24hour minimally 2x day Hope this helpsJc
